Overview of Classes

Gun Lake Fitness offers a wide variety of classes. Whether it's Jazzersize, Body Pump, a Salsa or Line Dance Class-- you're sure to find a fun and challenging workout that's appropriate for your level of fitness.

Bodypump is the original barbell class that shapes, tones and strenghtens your entire body.  This 60 minute addictive workout challenges all of your muscle groups by using the best weight-room exercises such as squats, presses, lifts and curls.  The key to BODYPUMP is the REP EFFECT, a breakthrough in fitness training focusing on high repetition movements with low weight loads.  This will help you achive strength and introduce lean body muscle conditioning. With the latest chart topping music, highly trained instructiors and your choice of weight, get the results you are looking for -- and fast!!

 

Body and Soul encouraging wellness both physically and spiritually by providing evidence-based fitness programs that provide great workouts as well as encouragement for each student.  We seek to cultivate an atmosphere of community with uplifiting music, positive feedback and fun reguardless of fitness level...all are welome!

 

 

Body Sculpt  A great way to define, sculpt and build lean muscle.  Focus on intense isolation exercises with free weights and resistance, ending with abs.  All-Levels

 

 

 

 

Boot Camp  Need an extra push?  Our boot camps are designed to keep you guessing--- Each class is designed to be different and push you out of your comfort zone!  We will challenge you every class!  Our goal is to offer encouragement rather than intimidation. We want you to have tons of fun - BUT be prepared for some high intensity training! (Intermediate to Advanced)

 

 

Cardio Combat  No bags, no gloves, just a killer workout!  Cardio Combat is a dynamic and explosive class that incorporates kickboxing techniques with an intense cardio workout.  This class will undoubtedly improve your endurance, cardiovascular fitness, tone muscles, shred abs and if you practice consistently with power and precision this intense cardio kickboxing class will leave you sweating, pumped and ready to go!

 

Circuit Training  This class is a high volume (reps) low resistance (weight) workout with short rest intervals and is geared primarily at improving muscle tone and definition, while improving cardiovascular fitness.

 

CSFit  This hour long class combines cardio intervals, strength training using free weights, fusion balls, elastic resistance and is for those who love some cardio along with strength!  Interval training has been shown to be an effective exercise strategy while providing variety.  Pilates, balance, core work...work at your own pace, and enjoy variety in this class! 

 

Group Meditation  Training in awareness and getting a healthy sense of perspective.  Learning to observe your senses without judgement.  Meditation generates inner peace and the abiity to connect with yourself at a deeper level.  When you sit with others, it can be powerful to influence one another in a community setting.  Benefit of group meditation is that is power in numbers and creating intentions.

Jazzercize  Want that look good, feel great confidence?  We've go you.  Our instructors are expertly trained to mix in new moves with hit music so classes are always different, keeping your workouts fresh and challenging.  Jazzercise masters methods that fuse Cardio, Resistance Training, Pilates, Yoga, Kickboxing and Modern Dance. Plus we offer different formats for the variety you need to stay motivated and break through plateaus.   Our Jazzercize classes offer Dance Mixx, Interval Dance Mixx, Fusion, Flip Fusion, Interval Fusion, Core, Strike, Stretch 30, Strength 60, Express, Personal Touch, Lo and coming soon...Junior Jazzercise!

 

Kickboxing  This class will keep you on your toes.  This calss combines kickboxing, bag training and strength training to give you a total body workout.  Thish igh energy class will push will push you to reach new levels of fitness training.  Challenge yourself to train your body like you've never done before!

 

Kettlebell  Are you interested in burning fat, building muscle, increasing strength and stamina?  Then this workout is for you.  Using a weight consisting of cast iron looking somewhat like a cannonball with a handle, kettlebells offer a different kind of training using dynamic moves targeting almost every aspect of fitness, endurance, strength, balance, agility, and cardio endurance.  Challenging and efficient, and you only need one piece of equipment. (Intermediate-Advanced)

Power Strength  This is an innovative hour long strength training session using free weights, and all major muscle groups are worked.  Participants start with any size free weights, and work at their own level.  Stretching is done after each muscle is worked, followed at the end by a total body stretch and relaxation.  Modifications are demonstrated.  Music is motivating and encouraging.  Come work out with us for a great head-to-toe workout.

 

Strength and Conditioning  This class is designed to help shed that excess fat while building strength and endurance.  This class includes circuit training, cardio exercise, body weight exercises and finishes with core training/stretching for a complete workout.  ALL-Levels.

 

 

Strength and Stretch  This 45 minute class uses fusion balls, elastic resistance and free weights to increase strength, flexability and balance.  Standing and seated options are offered to accomodate different levels of fitness/limitations/injuries and other medical conditions.  Slower/sustained stretching is also part of this class.  This is also great for first time exercisers or pregnancy.  Encouraging music and guidance is given during this class.

 

Yoga  Practing yoga has been shown to reduce joint pain and inflammation amoung individuals with arthritis, not to mention for a number of other conditions. It is known that wiith deep breating and light movements (poses), the body releases cheicals known as endorphins that help eliminate pain sensors in the body.  In order to maximize your effort for reducing joint and body pain, consider prcticing yoga at least 3 times per week for best results. Gun Lake Fitness offers several different types of Yoga classes: Alignment Based Chair Yoga, 

GentleYoga/Basic Stretch, Yoga Foundational Building, Therapeutic Chair Yoga

 

 

Yoga Foundations  We are all on a different path--whether you are brandnew to yoga or trying to reawaken your "beginner's mind," we have everything you need at your fingertips. This foundational series will take the time to build your yoga basics by teaching you the journey with step by step moves and guideance. Take this class at your own pace to develope and master your positions.

 

 

Alignment Based Yoga is asking students to slow down and pay attention. To learn to observe their bodies and minds while practicing.  "Turn your toes out 30 degrees", "Make your thigh parallel to thye floor", "Bend your knee to 90 degrees".  These are instructions your are likely to hear when pratucubg akugned yoga.  This style of Hatha yoga is based on the teachings of B.K.S. Iyengar.  Hatha yoga refers to the variety of physical poses (asanas) that are practiced in an effort to tone the muscles, calm the mind, and strengthen the spirit.  Of course this style of yoga will not appeal to everyone but for those who want to practice yoga for the rest of their lives it is a path that allows all ages to keep practicing and growing.

 

 

Gentle Stretch/Basic Yoga is a basic yoga class suitable for all experience levels and is particularly great for those new to yoga. Yoga props such as blankets, blocks, bolsters, chairs and straps are often used for safe practice and to allow the body to fully achieve each position comfortably.

 

 

Zumba  Come join the party!  ZUMBA takes the 'work' out of workout, by mixing low-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party.  Featuring Latin rhythms and easy to follow moves.  Zumba is an exercise class that keeps everyone motivated by creating a dance party atmosphere.  A total workout, combining all elements of fitness - cardio, muscle conditioning, balance and flexibility, boosted energy and a serious dose of awesome each time you leave class.

 

 

Therapeutic Chair Yoga (TCY)  Is an alternative yoga practice for everyone who wants an active yoga practice but has difficulty getting up and down from the floor. Using chairs as props for seated and standing yoga postures, TCY can release pinched nerves, relieve back pain, and build bone density.
